Caer Sidi ChOd Healing & Rituals : A Trilogy
Chod is the essence of all Dharma,
It is the summit of all spiritual paths
It is the quintessence of sutra and tantra condensed into one.
It is the dharma that liberates the 4 demons on their own ground.
It is the supreme method to directly dispel the 5 poisons.
It is the axe that cuts the tree of self-clinging at its root.“
— MaChik Labdrön, founder of the practice of Chod.

Welcome!
Caer Sidi ChOd Healing &
Rituals Music
is a creative group of visionary musicians, gNak-pas (lamas) multimedia artists, academic
researchers and NGOs partners, all working from the strategic site
of Bauddha Stupa (KTM, Nepal), thus being right at the centre of Nepal current humanitarian
crisis and therefore being intimately related to the inner
substance of an ever expanding new vision of artistic, musical and
spiritual consciousness production,
as it appears to enfold quite naturally and
surprisingly over there...
The inspiration, influences and
visionary lyrics being found in our MP3 samples and video clips are directly related to experience gathered
from the practices of Tsa-rLung, Tantras and Termas, being merged with the
Grail Quest and Keltic Archetypes, who/which manifest spontaneously themselves in real
life events...
Tantras in daily life are here
leading to inspiration. The vision is deeply Nepalese in its magical, emotional and
archetypal substance. Modern youth rock culture in Bauddha Kathmandu is just
wild and booming. While the country itself is in anarchy, it it such that it
leads also to good music. Local recording studios showed us how to blend Rock Fusion
tunes with Tibetan Chod & Tsa-rLung Rituals
music, this quite easily from the avenues being traced in situ of using digital
tools to sample traditional instruments and athmospheres. Therefore tapping into the Tibetan Nyingmas legendary dakinis and protectors
and blending them deeply within the Keltic Grail, is not only a synergy emerging
naturally by osmosis, but it abides to any Quest for Termas within Keltic realms.
Music
creation itself, based on such a profound influences, actually aims first to
convey a spiritual vision to the Bauddha youth, because music (if well
done and inspired) can be a
major social, spiritual and political impact on society. And so, in short, such involvements
we are dancing on the rope of tantric dakinis embodiment in the real daily life.
Well: hum... why not, indeed?
Sacred
Rock-Shamanic Fusion
Would it
be called: Fusion Music, Jazz, Soft Rock, Shamanic Rock, what counts here
is that the
inspiration, influences and
visionary lyrics (as found in our MP3 samples and video clips), are directly related to
daily experiences gathered
both in Nepal and in the Verdon from the practices of Tsa-rLung, Tantras and Termas,
which are culturally being merged within the
Grail Quest and Keltic Archetypes, who/which then
do! manifest themselves in real
life events...
The substance is thereupon
gained is conceptualized within the musical and artistic expression of
both the Vajrayana and Keltic traditions, biographically inherited either from
transmissions given by
reputed Nyingma Lamas Gurus (Khyentse, Dudjom, Tarab Tulku, etc...),
Shamanic Teachers (Zeberio) and the Grail Quest Egregore spiritual
embodiment.
Caer Sidi Music is a
World Music Fusion of
traditional acoustic and synthesizer instruments, blending harmoniously
old Rock Music songs of the Arjuna group (70s-80s) with Tamang, Tibetan
and Nepalese Traditional dance, music, pujas and
rituals, all in one musical performance.
It is in short the Living Path, the expression of yogas
practices
performed naturally on a very daily basis in the powerplace : Bauddha Stupa.
It is the vibrant musical expression of
KTM local youth, musicians and lamas, all gathering in
this Nepalese current revolutionary syncretism where
multi- cultural, multi-media, Ipad, Iphone,
Facebook, Rock Music,
Arts, Rituals and Politics, all merge
and emerge in a yet unknown new society creativity...
These activities and
visions encompass a wide range of creative,
social and spiritual purposes...
Wrathful
Mothers and Caer-sidi are the names of
this global collection of individuals seeking to unite
the blessing stream and enlightened potential of Tibetan sacred and shamanic
music, with the dynamic, fresh and creative power of modern rock fusion….
(ref- Lama Jinpa - USA - Creative and Rituals Director - KTM
2010-12)
Musical
Creation
Music comes in
an incredible array of genre, styles, periods and possibilities. From within
this broad spectrum, Wrathful Mothers takes its inspiration from several
distinct sources:
-
the best of
contemporary rock, with an emphasis on European developments
-
Tibetan
spiritual music, as epitomized by the shamanic and tantric traditions of
Vajrayana Buddhism
-
Celtic
music, and its connection to ancient Mongolian shamanic traditions in
France.
Experimenting
with the fusion of these elements, the creative process goes beyond musical
inventiveness. The whole is infused with spiritual essence, and the purpose
is to bring about a deep change in consciousness.
Integrating
Mundane and Sublime
The whole
purpose of the spiritual path is simple: to bridge the gap between our
everyday, humdrum lives, full of stress and striving, with the pure,
underlying stratum of enlightened energy that is the basis of all.
Unfortunately, many spiritual traditions have only widened that gap,
cloistered away in monastic environments. And music and art, no matter how
good, has no consistent, meaningful way of connected with the divine. Dharma
music and Shamanic Rock, integrating ancient spiritual technology with
current, advanced Western music, is the ideal vehicle to bring these two
forces closer together.
Transformation
Music can
entertain, uplift, inform. It draws us in, forms a background to our lives,
and is the milieu of the most special moments in our memories. But music can
be the vehicle for a much deeper purpose. Rather than just musical wallpaper
or a pleasant experience, music can be the vehicle of profound and lasting
inner change. However, this doesn’t happen by accidentally. Transformation
is as much as “art” as music, literature or painting. And it is as much a
science as physics or biochemistry. To bring music to its epitome,
mainstream rock can be infused with spiritual blessings and sacred
connections. This is the fulfilment of the promise of the music we love,
were born with and is in our bloods. The scintillating brilliance of the
Tibetan masters, and the heritage they maintain, can also be fulfilled. The
transformative power of Vajrayana can find a home in the very streams of
sound that come out of our radios, our ipods. Music and technology can
finally be the handmaiden of sacred music and sacred technology.
Cultural
Shift
Not least, the
vision is to change the direction of culture, beyond the decadence and
darkness of these last decades. Especially for the global youth, the lost
generations that are now being inducted into the violence and aimlessness of
the modern world, Sacred Dharma Music Shamanic Rock offers a possibility.
Music that might merely be a protest or an escape, can become a pathway, and
conduit for real change in the values and meaning of lives. By generating
compassion, wisdom, integrity and fearlessness in the young, in men and
women of every race, creed or walk of life, society itself can be redeemed
to a new level. We uphold those standards and seek to fulfil the dreams of a
worse gone sane and a time of peace and brother-sisterhood. (c) Lama

Caer Sidi ChOd Healing &
Rituals Music
Chod
is a spiritual path that “cuts through” obstacles, negativity and
self-delusion, while relying on Feminine Wisdom energy to purify body,
mind and spirit. Combining all the elements of Tibetan Buddhism in a
single practice, it brings about a direct experience of one’s inner
brilliance and original wisdom. The practice of Chod cultivates
fearlessness, certainty and unrelenting compassion, connecting us to our
deepest core.
The unique combination of
sacred song, ritual instruments, visualization and supreme generosity
creates a rich tapestry that reweaves our everyday experience and
redefines our limited sense of self.
Music comes in
an incredible array of genre, styles, periods and possibilities. From within
this broad spectrum, Caer-Sidi takes its inspiration from several
distinct sources.
The relationship between
shamans and different elements in nature has been portrayed
throughout Europe from a far back as 40,000 years during the
Upper Palaeolithic era. This is seen in the cave paintings
of Lascaux in France, and Altimira in Spain. Another well
known art are phenomenon which has drawn many parallels to
the cave art in France and Spain, has been the San cave art
in South Africa, which is estimated to be 3,000 years old.
It is almost certain that rock and cave art is related to
Sympathetic Magic with reference to hunting and animal
ceremonialism. The painted images and rock carvings found
throughout the world, represent different forms of
communication taking place, where communication and visions
from both the physical and spiritual worlds, are portrayed
by shamans after communication has been encountered.
Animism is an
academic term used to describe the world of spirits, and
nature, and the relationship between the two. Animism is
described as a basis upon which the practice of shamanism
takes place, whereby everything in the universe is connected
together as a whole, via strands and forms of energy that
are intricately woven between the earth, the cosmos, trees,
stones, the stars, the sun, the moon, humans, animals,
plants and the dead. All these different elements are
combined together producing what Chief Seattle called: The
Web of Life. Moreover, animism has been a part of Northern
Identity from a far back as the very first
hunters-gatherers, who relied on nature for their food,
clothes, medicines, shelter and their spirituality.
The rock art
which has been discovered in Finland since the beginning of
the twentieth century and in the circumpolar regions of
Northern countries has been primarily linked to animal
ceremonialism because of high presence of painted hunting
scenes depicted on the surfaces of large stone panels. Rock
paintings in Finland have been dated between 2-5,000 years
old approximately. There appears to be two different types
of rock paintings, namely those painted by the hunter and
the ones painted by the shaman.

The ChOd
Connection
The Great Mother
ChOd is
a unique method of rapid spiritual development, healing and
environmental transformation. It shares the core
understandings of Vajrayana Tibetan spirituality, such as
the knowledge of the Five Buddha Families, Three Buddha
Bodies (see explanation further on), Ultimate and Relative
meaning and so on. But there are striking difference too, as
we shall see.
-
Developed by
an enlightened woman, ChOd
relies on Feminine Wisdom Energy
”the Dakini”
expressed in perfect archetypal form, as the white, red or
black Yogini.
-
ChOd is based on the ultimate
generosity of offering our entire self, our body, mind,
our biography and life force, to help others.
-
This offering is made to the whole of reality, from the
highest spiritual forces to the lowest hells, from gods to
demons.
-
ChOd rapidly clears karmic debts
and negative energies.
-
There is a built-in system for healing sickness, helping
the after-death passage, healing the land, and for demonic
exorcism.
-
ChOd has a unique system of
sacred melody, mantra and instrumentation based on
revelations from Wisdom Mind.
Modules & Options
The agenda
will comprises three modules,
with Lamas and Musicians due to arrive from Nepal, Tibet and/or
India, while the Canadian, USofA European participants will already
be in
situ, either in Nice or the Verdon area, per se.
Transforming the Body
Though the practice of ChOd
can be intricate and complex, the underlying principles are
clear and simple.
With a
background drone of drum, bell and human thighbone trumpet,
the meditator visualizes leaving their body and taking on
the form and mind-state of the Dakini. In a complex
alchemical process, one corpse is then transformed into
an inexhaustible ocean of nectar, which is none other than
the purified five elements and Five Wisdoms. This is then
offered to the Four Classes of Guests, representing the full
scope of possibilities for life in this world realm.
The World as Guest
(-Lama Jinpa, 2012)
1. Higher
Guests are
the enlightened Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Yidams (Meditational
Deities), Dakinis and realized sages, teachers and yogis, in
both male and female form.
2. Guests
of Quality are fierce beings who uncompromisingly
protect the Dharma and its practitioners. Some are pure
emanations of enlightened mind; Others are powerful worldly
spirits who are oath-bound guardians of the spiritual path.
3. Guests
of Compassion are
all sentient beings existing within the Six Realms: humans,
animals, hungry ghosts, hell beings, demigods and gods.
Whether high or low, living beings reincarnate endlessly in
a cycle of intractable suffering until they realize their
true nature.
4. Lower
Guests include
all beings to whom we owe a karmic debt, as well as demonic
forces, harm-givers and the whole pantheon of negative
spirits and entities who are linked to us and seek specific
retribution. Only through our generosity can they be
pacified.
Relentless Generosity
Higher
Guests are offered things of great beauty, value and
richness. Guests of Quality are offered attributes, objects
and residences as befitting their nature and kind. Beings of
the Six Realms receive whatever they lack, such as food,
shelter, possessions, happiness, companionship, love,
health, fulfilment or simply release from pain, suffering
and torment. Lower Guests are repaid whatever has been taken
from them, or eases their suffering. This may also take the
form of our flesh, organs and bones
whatever demonic
beings may desire. All offerings are multiplied infinitely,
in vast quantities, so that all are completely satiated and
made joyful.
Through
these actions, the practitioner receives positive blessings
and clears negative karma. And by cutting away attachment to
the body, status and possessions, he is brought face to face
with his true nature and ultimate being. Gaining a sense of
fearlessness and freedom, the yogi learns to live in this
dense world, while still holding to Sacred View and Sacred
Experience.

Tibetan
Shamanic Healing
Practices, as found in Chod & Tsa-rLung
Introduction Conference to ChOd Healing
and Rituals, organized on Friday 07 September (evening
18h00), at the Librairie " Le Philosophe " in Nice,
during which Lopon Namgyel (Dudjom gNakpa lineage), Alan (Druide), Tenzin Maxime (Dudjom gNakpa) and Orgyen Gyaltsen (RWL)
will together give a detailed presentation of the
following workshop to be organized on 08 and 09 September.
The Worshop will offer Pujas, practices, explanation and discussion on
the related
framework of embodiment, the ChOd archetypes, divination and
tantras, as well as diagnosis or healing technics, to be
of an experiential nature into the comparative study of both
Tibetan / Mongolian and Indo-European / Keltic Roots
Shamanic Practices in Healing, Divination and Embodiment.
This will be approach from the theory and practices of the Chod and Tsa-rLung Body of Light and Dakinis practices,
itself then being conceptualized further in situ using
academic tools such as Cultural / Structural Anthropology,
Phenomenology and Hermeneutics.
There is indeed a broader
aim in such attempt for synthesis that goes more further
than only the "feel good" basic motivation that may be found
in any marketing niche study blending Shamanism, Yogas and
Tibetan practices, per se. Indeed, it is of interest to some
of the experienced participants that much of the core
behavioral explanations for some ongoing equation, which
have arisen in the last 30 years from the merging of Tibetan
practices in core Keltic powerplaces, may be found
within a broad and document model of analysis including the
biography and social context of such arising.

Caer-Sidi is
the name of the global collection of individuals seeking to unite the
blessing stream and enlightened potential of sacred and shamanic music, with
the dynamic, fresh and creative power found in KTM modern rock fusion….
The
Choregraphy
West
Contemporary Rock, with its complex roots in
African rhythms, blues, European and American folk music and
gospel, has become a universal vehicle of human
communication. With its rich tapestry of story-telling and
primal sounds, it reaches deep into our hearts and minds.
From the sublime to the ridiculous, and from the frivolous
to the profound, it has the power to take us on a journey
through the human condition, and potentially beyond.
Borrowing the improvisational qualities of jazz and the
symphonic elements of European Classical music, it is
eclectic and flowing. Like life itself, it is ever
re-inventing itself with new and surprising twists of
evolution and revolution, where both beauty and the beast
struggle to show their face.
East
Eastern music, with its formalized and highly
structured melodic and rhythmic systems, is designed to be a
container for spiritual values and meanings. If successful,
this relatively static approach is not rigid or inhibiting,
but instead provides a stable context for a variety of
spiritual and shamanic manipulations, including:
-
Allowing a stream of blessing from
enlightened lineage masters flowing down through
time-space, centuries or milennia.
-
Enacting the four Buddha activities of pacifying,
enriching, controlling and destroying, appropriate to the
situation.
-
Activating the power of the Dakini, Protector, Yidam and
Lama.
-
Generating the energy of healing body and mind, cleansing
the land, clearing karma and generating spiritual
unfoldment.
Fusion
The union of Western and Eastern paradigms
brings the dynamic spiritual power and wisdom preserved in
the remote Himalayas into the global mindstream. Thus, the
Tibetan Shamanic Rock Opera is conceived in three parts,
corresponding to the three levels of spiritual reality in
which we exist.
Act I: The Formless
Dharmakaya
The Dharmakaya, sometimes translated as the
Body of Truth, is the basic ground of luminous awareness
that is the matrix of all phenomena. All form, all
experience arises from this open dimension. Yet it itself
remains a stainless, unperturbed, immovable whole.
Synonymous with the God Head, the Source, or Atman of other
traditions, it is beyond all polarities of self and other,
being or non-being, life or death. Though beyond all form,
we need tangible doorways to be able to enter and dwell in
this basic ground of Ultimate Reality. For the Tibetans,
Yumchenmo, the Great Mother, is one such entry point.
Synonymous with the Perfection of Wisdom, she is the start
and end point of the mystical journey. Her form, and sonic
essence ”her mantra”
can bridge the gap between worlds, so that relative
and absolute are no longer seen as separate realities.
ChOd
All Vajrayana rituals begin and end with
a reference to the original
ground of Dharmakaya. In ChOd,
however, we return to it frequently, constantly reminding
ourselves that, in spite of the wild or intricate phenomena
that arise, that is our real home. The mystic syllable PHAT
cuts through discursive thought and catapults the
hearer into this open space of Being. This mantra is
intertwined through the whole ChOd
ritual, with dozens of meanings and actions. The mantra of
the Great Mother: Gate Gate Para
Gate, Para Samgate Bodhi So Ha
also allows us to peer beyond the veil of phenomena and
glimpse the nameless open dimension from which everything
arises, and into which everything subsides.
Music
Passages from the Refuge Prayer of Tang
Tong Gyalpo ChOd,
and the Gatà Mantra of the Shukseb tradition of ChOd.
Act II: Rainbow ENERGY
Sambhogakaya
Playfully, the basic ground manifests as pure
energy, archetypal form,
mantric sound and blissful experience. It paints each moment
with the palate of the Five Wisdom Energies, expressed as
the Five Feminine Dakini Powers, perceived as the five pure
elements. This dynamic display is the basis of the baroque
and ecstatic art of Tibetan Buddhism, which provides a
window into this world. This archetypal realm also forms a
bridge from our deluded, overwhelmed state, to the
streamlined simplicity of the pure energy world. Through
connecting with deity forms, mantra, chakras and activities,
our own body, speech and mind are purified. We are realigned
with original luminosity, which is un-fabricated
and un-fathomable.
ChOd
In ChOd, we evoke
the Five Wisdom Ladies. Dancing in the space of mind, they
display their five colors, five symbolic emblems, and five
elemental powers. They express their five wisdom qualities
and perform their five activities. Invoking their blessing
stream, we receive extraordinary support and release from
our intractable karmic shackles, the tangled skein of
actions and reactions. We are instantly re-configured into
the Pure Realm of the Dancing Dakini. We hear the ancient
secret language of our mind echo and reverberate, in each of
the flavours of the Five Element
rainbow, Warrior, Lover, Creator,
Ruler and Guru.
Music
From the Precious Rosary of Machik Labdron:
The Exhorting of the 100,000
Dakinis.
Act III: EMBODIMENT
Nirmanakaya
The world of embodiment is the world of
Samsara: where the illusion of form and personal identity
are the most dense, and suffering is the most intense. Here
is the endless cycle of birth,
aging, sickness and death. Here vast numbers of life forms,
including humans, experience a seemingly endless variety of
loss, pain and confusion. Whether
in a gilded cage or iron chains, it is an interminable
prison, from which escape seems remote. Knowing the Openness
and Radiance of the first two worlds, how does the tantric
adept behave in the world of mundane form? Beyond the
polarities of hope and fear, he acts with fearlessness.
Beyond limited self-concern, she acts with compassion and
generosity. Enlightenment for the sake of others becomes the
guiding principle, transforming the limitations of
embodiment.
Chö
In ChOd, we enact
fearless generosity through infinite offerings. We let go of
everything, and give away everything. Turning the physical
body into an infinite ocean of nectar,
the essence of the purified five elements,
it can be transformed into whatever is needed for
others. Through offering pleasing sacred objects to
Enlightened Beings, they rejoice and grant blessings.
Offering beauty and bliss to Dakinis and archetypal Energy
Beings, we receive spiritual power. Offering to Guardians,
we are given protection. Offering to sentient beings, they
are relieved of suffering and we accumulate great positive
karma. Offering to demons and the vast horde of our karmic
debtors, we purify oceans of negative karma and obstacles.
And by giving all away, we come full circle, experiencing
our original open and luminous nature.
